Bank Indonesia revises down economic growth target Bank Indonesia (BI) revised down its prediction of economic growth in 2014, from its initial 5.5-5.9 percent to 5.1-5.5 percent. Indoensia's inflation may reach 9 percent Indonesia's inflation may jump to 9 percent this year under the impact of the recent rise in the prices of subsidized fuel oils, World Bank economist Ndiame Diop has predicted. "The higher fuel prices will first have a greater impact on the inflation rate by increasing average annual inflation rate in 2013," he said here on Tuesday.

Indonesia's economy grows 6.3 pct in Q1 Indonesia`s economy has grown 6.3 percent year-on-year (YOY) in the first quarter of this year, according to the National Statistics Agency (BPS). "Compared to the fourth quarter of 2011, in terms of GDP, it has grown 1.4 percent," BPS chief Suryamin said here on Monday.

Shenzhen Airlines flies Guangzhou - Bali direct A new twice-weekly direct air service flown by Shenzhen Airlines from Guangzhou (Canton) to Bali will cut 7 hours traveling time from the previous 12 hours it took to fly that route. Previously Chinese travelers faced the arduous prospect flying to Bali with an intermediate stop-over in Jakarta, a trip now reduced to only four hours with the launch of the direct flight service.

June inflation 2.46 percent, year-on-year hits 11 percent As was expected before, the inflation rate in Indonesia was higher in June than in the month of May 2008. The inflation reached 2.46 percent, where it only was 1.41 percent in May. The numbers were released by Ali Rosidi, a member of the State Statistics Agency BPS, at a meeting with the press.

Indonesia 2007 GDP expected to grow at fastest pace in 11 years The Indonesian economy is expected to have grown at its fastest pace in 2007 since the country was hit by the Asian financial crisis 11 years ago, driven mostly by private consumption. Falling interest rates, a strong financial market performance, and an increase in pay for civil servants are expected to have underpinned the recovery in purchasing power, said Destry Damayanti, an economist at Mandiri Securities.

Lower inflation in May 2007 Year-on-year inflation in Indonesia for the month of May is likely to be lower than the month before as prices of most basic goods were steady, according to the senior deputy governor of Bank Indonesia, the central bank on Thursday. The consumer price index was down 0.16 percent in April from March but was up 6.29 percent year-on-year.

Indonesia's inflation in November 5.27 % Indonesia`s inflation in November 2006 fell to 0.34 percent from 0.86 percent a month earlier, bringing the calendar year inflation to 5.32 percent and year-on-year inflation to 5.27 percent. The year-on-year inflation in November was lower than in October when it stood at 6.29 percent, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said on Friday.

Bali Oct tourist arrivals fall 48.4 pct vs Sept after blasts Foreign tourist arrivals to Bali fell 48.4 pct in October compared to the preceding month in the wake of suicide bombings there, official figures showed. The number of foreign visitors to Bali in October stood at 86,800, down from September's 168,200, according to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics. 'The drop is directly related to the Bali bombings II on Oct 1, 2005,' the bureau said in a release posted on its website.

Indonesia July car sales rise 28.34% year-on-year Car sales in Indonesia rose 28.3 percent in July compared with the same period in 2004, data from the largest automotive distributor showed on Saturday. PT Astra International Tbk, controlled by Singapore’s Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd, said a total of 49,388 cars were sold by all distributors in the country last month, bringing the year to date national sales to 345,167 units.

Philip Morris raises stake in Sampoerna to 97 pct Philip Morris International Corp said it has raised its stake in Indonesia's third largest 'kretek' (clove) cigarette maker, PT HM Sampoerna, to 97 pct following an irrevocable tender offer for an additional 57 pct. The tender was launched a month ago and is due to close today.

Garuda 1Q operating loss surges to IDR139B National flag carrier Garuda International's operating loss almost doubled year-on-year to IDR139 billion ($14.5 million) in the first three months of 2005, the Jakarta Post reports. HM Sampoerna 1Q Sales IDR4.6 Tln Vs IDR4.0 Tln PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna, Indonesia's third-largest cigarette maker, said its first-quarter sales ended March 31 rose 15% year-on-year to IDR4.6 trillion from IDR4.0 trillion, because of higher sales volume. During the quarter, Sampoerna sold 11.3 billion sticks of cigarettes, up 14% from 9.9 billion a year earlier.

Foreign investment falls sharply ahead of elections Foreign direct investment in Indonesia declined 66 percent year-on-year in January and February, official data shows, in line with analysts' predictions before elections this year. Indonesia exports up Indonesia's exports surged 20.43 percent year-on-year to US$4.92 billion in January, according to the central bureau of statistics (BPS). BPS chief Sudarto Suerbakti attributed the increase mainly to a 15.6 percent increase in the exports of commodities other than oil and gas to $3.73 billion in January from $3.22 billion in the same month in 2002.

Y-o-Y inflation slows down in May Indonesia's annuall inflation rate iscontinuing to decline, officials said Monday, with a 12.9 percent rate recorded in May, AFP reported. This compares with year-on-year rises in the consumer price index of 15.3 percent in February, 14.8 percent in March and 13.3 percent in April. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said the May figure was up 0.8 percent from the previous month.
