Aviastar Twin Otter skids over runway in Papua A Twin Otter plane from the airline Aviastar skidded over the runway of Serui airport in Papua when it tried to land at around 10:00 local time (GMT+9) this morning. The three crew members and five passengers were not injured in the incident however. According to Iman Setiawan of the local police, the incident happened when the plane tried to land. Planes landing gear failed before crash Investigators that work on the crash of a Boeing 737-400 that burst into flames after skidding of he runway, said that it's front wheels broke off as is touched down. "We are trying to find out why the wheel broke," said investigator Marjdono Siswo Suwarno. Forensics struggled to identify the victims from Wednesday's accident on the airport of Yogyakarta, central Java. Many were burned beyond recognition.

Experts look for clues as death toll tops 26 Dozens of experts were sifting through the wreckage of passenger plane Lion Air on Wednesday in search of clues in the deadly crash in Surakarta, Central Java as the death toll rose to 26. Up until Wednesday evening, the plane's black box had not been found, leading authorities and airline staff to theorize that bad weather had caused the accident, the country's worst in the past seven years.

Death toll from Solo plane crash revised down to 25 At least 25 people were killed and 61 injured when a passenger plane skidded off a rain-slicked runway after landing in Indonesia's Central Java province, an official said, revising downward an earlier toll of 31 dead. "As of 11:00 am (0400 GMT), there are 25 bodies which have been identified and laid at seven hospitals in Solo," said Rudi Patrianto, commercial administration division chief at Adi Sumarmo airport.

Teams scour Indonesia plane crash site Rescue teams have searched areas around an airfield in central Indonesia for survivors from a plane crash that police said killed at least 31 people and left 47 unaccounted for. The McDonnell-Douglas MD-82, operated by budget domestic carrier Lion Air and carrying 163 passengers and crew, crashed in Solo city as it landed in heavy rain around dusk on Tuesday after a flight from Jakarta.

At least 31 killed in Solo airport plane crash Up to 31 people may have been killed and many more injured after a jet carrying 153 passengers and crew crashed on landing in heavy rain in Indonesia's central Java. Indonesia's Metro TV said 31 were dead and "tens" more hurt. Airport officials put the death toll at 31.

Military plane skids, halts traffic at Juanda An Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel carrier skidded off the runway while landing at Juanda Airport here on Monday, causing several departing and incoming flights to be delayed by up to 1.5 hours. The skidding plane hit a number of navigation lamps and debris littered the runway. Bambang Utomo, the head of the operator of the airport, PT Angkasa Pura 1, said the Boeing 707 plane was scheduled to touch down at 7:38 a.m. to pick up soldiers and fly them back to Jakarta following the TNI's 58th anniversary celebration on Sunday.
