Government to announce another cut in fuel prices on Friday The government is set to announce another cut in the prices of subsidized premium gasoline, diesel oil, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on Friday (Jan. 16). Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said stated here on Wednesday that the government had shortened the fuel pricing period to biweekly from monthly as originally planned.

Video shows Ahmadi corpses stoned, beaten Video recordings of the clash between local residents and Ahmadis in Banten on Sunday show dozens of people stoning and beating two almost-nude corpses. The videos were played at a press conference held by representatives of dozens of NGOs. Ahmadiyah Indonesia spokesperson Zafrullah Ahmad Pontoh attended the press conference.

Obama delays trip to Indonesia and Australia President Barack Obama has postponed his trip to Asia until June so he can stay in Washington for a possible Sunday vote on his health care overhaul. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday the president is disappointed and regrets having to delay his visits to Indonesia and Australia but has told the leaders of those nations that health care is a crucial priority.

Susi Air flies between Jakarta and Pangandaran Susi Air has announced that it will start serving the route Jakarta - Pangandaran via Bandung. The flight will depart from Halim Perdanakusuma airport in southern Jakarta, will make a stopover in Bandung and will continue the trip to Pangandaran from there. Normal travel time from Jakarta to Pangandaran is about six hours, but with this flight it will be shortened to about one hour.

'If trains go faster, people reach their destination earlier' The Minister of Transport has finally seen the light. He stated earlier today that the time needed to travel between Surabaya and Banyuwangi could be shortened from six hours, the current time a train needs, to only three hours. KPU worries about late party screening Less than half of 32 provincial elections commission (KPUDs) have submitted the results of their field verification on 40 political parties, raising fears the slow progress would severely affect preparations for next year's elections. KPU deputy chairman Ramlan Surbakti said over the weekend that only 14 provincial KPUDs had submitted their reports by Saturday, two days after the deadline lapsed last Thursday.

PLN admits power reserves running thin State-owned electricity company PT PLN said that power reserves on Java and Bali had been depleted, but stopped short of saying there could be more blackouts in the future. Company president Eddie Widiono said that the current reserve margin had reached 28 percent, which is lower than the minimum reserve margin of 30 percent to avert power disruptions.
