Police finds over 80 kilograms of pot in Deli Serdang The Narcotics unit of the Deli Serdang police in North Sumatra, has arrested a drug runner. More than 80 kilograms of marijuana were also seized. The pot most likely originated from the province of Aceh, the northernmost province of Sumatra. The runner, Fitriadi, is a resident of the village of Kotasan in Galang and has been arrested.

Weapons and ammunition found in Aceh The police has found four weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition during an anti-terrorism action in Lhokseumawe, Aceh. The action was headed by the local head of police in Lhokseumawe, Zulkifli. Yesterday in the afternoon the police departed in convoy to the place of the raid. Journalists were kept at some distance for safety reasons.

Malaysian arrested with 10,000 ecstasy tablets Customs in Tanjung Balai in Karimun Riau have arrested a Malaysian when he wanted to enter Indonesia with some 10,000 tablets of ecstasy and two kilograms of marijuana. The person, only identified as 45-year-old L.C.H. was asked to stop when he almost walked through the door leaving the harbor. Scanners here detected that something was going on.

The wrong kind of home industry: mixing alcohol The police in Surabaya has raided a house of which the owner though it would be a good idea to make some real Indonesian products by himself. Unfortunately he choose to process alcoholic drinks in his own house, which is not allowed unless you have a permit for it. But it didn't end there, so the police did not raid the house for nothing.

Hundreds of illegal logs seized by Aceh police The regional police of Aceh Singkil, in the province of Aceh, has seized hundreds of illegaly processed logs from several different types of wood that were ready to be sold. Two persons were arrested by the police as well.

43 kilograms of marijuana seized at Medan airport The customs at the international airport of Polonia near Medan have seized some 43 kilograms of marijuana that was about to be smuggled into the country via the city in North Sumatra. The head of the narcotics brigade at the airport, Jukiman Situmorang, confirmed the big catch. He added that the marijuana was detected when it went through the x-ray machine at the airport.

Smokers stand trial in Surabaya The district court in Surabaya has tried residents disobeying the smoking bylaw for the first time since it became in effect last year. Smoking in public areas has since been forbidden. One of the smokers that was convicted was disappointed about his trial, while he only had to pay 40,000 Rupiah (2.85 euro) in fines, where the maximum penalty has been set at 50 million Rupiah (3,571 euro).

Banyuwangi starts culling dogs from Bali The ministry of Agriculture in the region of Banyuwangi, East Java, is to cull some 40 dogs that were discovered after they were transported from the island of Bali. The animals are currently in quarantine in Ketapang. They are culled to prevent rabies from spreading to the region after all of Bali is now officially a rabies-zone.

Son of mayor arrested during drug party The police of the city Bontang in East Kalimantan has arrested five people early on Wednesday. They were caught during a drug party held in a house in the city. One of those arrested was soon identified as the son of Bontang mayor Sofyan Hasdam. The Bontang police chief, Ismed Wijaya, confirmed the arrest of the mayors son. The remainder of the crystal methamphetamine, popularly named shabu-shabu was seized by the police.

1.74 tons of marijuana seized by Sukabumi police The regional police of Sukabumi has seized some 1.74 tons of dried marijuana when it raided a house in the city of Sukabumi last Friday. The raid was a joint operation between the National Narcotics Brigade and the police in the region. The total value of the drugs is estimated at 6 billion Rupiah (410.000 euro). The drugs were already prepared for distribution. Four suspects were arrested during the raid.

Dozens of underage prostitutes arrested Dozens of underage prostitutes have been arrested in a raid held by the Tegal police in Central Java last evening. Hundreds of bottles of liquor were also seized during the raid. Most of the youngsters were arrested around a number of nightspots in the city. Some of the pimps were also arrested, but the police said is was not that easy to catch them.

14,000 kilograms of sugar seized The regional police of Bengkayang, which belongs to the city of Pontianak on the island of Kalimantan, has seized 286 bags of illegally imported sugar from Sarawak, Malaysia. The sugar was imported via Jagoi Babang. The police did not have an eye on any suspects yet.

Explosives found at Bogor farm The Indonesian police has found explosives at a farm in Bogor, West Java province. The police seized some 12 kilograms of explosives of different types and at the moment they are looking for the person that has rented the place a while ago. Ugi, resident of Kampung Bojong in northern Bogor, told that he rented out the farm house to students for their research. The students who rented the place together are students at the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB).

89 kilograms of marijuana found in one room The local police in Depok have succeeded in seizing 89 kilograms of marijuana ready to be distributed in a boarding house in the Pancoran Mas Permai housing complex in the city in West Java province. The police was not able to arrest the person who was about to distribute the drugs, only known by his initials A.Y.

Shipment of illegally cut wood seized in Riau The regional police in Riau has successfully seized a shipment of over 10 tonnes of wood that has been illegally cut. The wood that was taken from the forests of Riau were destined for Malaysia. The head of the marine police in Riau, Zainal Paliwang, explained that wood in various sizes has been seized from three boats that routinely operate the waters of Kampung Pacul in the district of Bengkalis.

500.000 motorcycles a month PT Astra Honda Motor, one of the biggest sellers of motorcycles in Indonesia, has anounced that it expects to sell some 500.000 motorcycles in July. Last June they sold 'only' 485.000 motorcycles in the country. The rise in sales figures for the company are mostly related to the fact that the Indonesian central bank has lowered the interest rate to only 6.75 percent. Marketing director Julius Aslan also told that the upcoming Idul Fitri holidays - after the Ramadan month of fasting - will lift sales even further.

Dozens arrested in Stadium Club after brawl The local police of West Jakarta has arrested 25 people after a brawl in the Stadium Club discotheque in Taman Sari, North Jakarta. All people were searched and a number of weapons like big knives, wooden sticks and bamboo were seized from those arrested. A spokesperson of the police told that they have checked up on 42 people in total. 18 of them were released almost immediately because a lack of evidence that they were involved in the brawl.

Brebes police seizes over 5.000 bottles of liquor As much as 5.680 bottles of liquor from various brands and types were seized by Brebes police. The liquor was seized from food stalls which are known to sell drinks. Most of the liquor was seized from obscure places. The thousands of bottles will be destroyed soon. Other than branded liquor, the Brebes police also seized dozens of bottles of diluted alcohol.

Anti-corruption watchdog seizes 194 bn Rupiah from state officials Indonesia Anti-Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that it has seized 194 billion Rupiah (12.9 million euro) in state assets from public officials during the 2007-2008 period, according to a newspaper on Monday. Indonesia has been combating corruption, which hampered its efforts in attracting foreign investment.

Cargo officials suspected of smuggling sea shells 16 boxes about to be boarded on a departing Qantas flight were intercepted by local authorities who found thousands of rare shells hidden among local handicrafts and textiles. Authorities estimate the value of the protected sea shells to be in the hundreds of millions of Rupiahs.

Malaysian marine police seize smuggled cigarettes from Indonesia The Malaysian marine police has seized some 110.000 packets of cigarettes which are believed to be smuggled to the country from Indonesia. The catch was made after a 15-minute high-speed sea chase, according to an official on Sunday. The contraband, with a value of some 200.000 euro, was seized after the smugglers made an attempt to escape in their cargo boat after they were ordered to stop for a routing inspection by patrolling marine personnel last Friday night.

117 minibuses seized by Bandung police As much as 117 minibuses used for travel services, but with a normal black license plate, have been seized by the Traffic Police of the city of Bandung. "Some of the 'travel' are said to violate the regulations. They should have yellow license plates because black ones may only be used for rental services. The owners are several travel agents which should not use these plates," said Herukoco, the head of the Traffic Police in Bandung earlier today.

Tangerang police seizes 18 kilograms of marijuana As much as 18 kilograms of marijuana was seized by the regional police of Tangerang. They also arrested a person only known by the initials E.S., which is said to be the owner of these illegal goods. In front of cameras E.S. told reporters that the goods originated from Aceh. He bought them in Cilegon, Banten. "The marijuana is from Aceh, and I bought it in Cilegon," he said to reporters. He paid some 800.000 Rupiah (55 euro) per kilogram for it in Cilegon and was able to sell it at around two million Rupiah (138 euro) per kilogram again.

Illegal jamu seized by Banyuwangi police The narcotics brigade of the regional police of Banyuwangi have seized thousands of bottles of illegal jamu - traditional medicine which are suspected to contain medication that is not allowed. Yesterday the police succeeded in seizing some 100 boxes with bottles and packages of illegal jamu with an estimated value of several million Rupiah.

Two Taiwanese arrested for drugs trafficking Indonesian authorities have arrested two Taiwanese nationals for trying to smuggle nearly seven kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine into the country, local media reports said Sunday. The two, identified as Kuo Ting Liu, 23, and Huang Yu Lum, 26, were arrested on Friday by custom officers at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International airport, soon after they arrived on a China Airlines flight from Hong Kong.

Six people arrested in Tangerang for smuggling ecstasy A spokesman for the Anti-drugs department of the Metro Jaya regional police in Jakarta, Arman Depari, just announced the initials of the six people that were arrested in Ruko Mutiara Palem, Cengkareng, Tangerang, while the full names of those arrested were already known to the reporters at the press conference. The people arrested were Siegfried Mets (Dutch), Ong Tiong Yoh (Singapore), Chen Hoa Yi (Taiwan), Tzu Chiang (Taiwan), Li Hao Yi (Taiwan) and Alek alias Alexander (Indonesia).

Container rejected condoms intercepted in Jakarta Customs in the harbor of Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, have confiscated one container full of condoms or 26.000 kilograms. The condoms originate from Taiwan. They contain dangerous lubricants and were thus rejected. They were sent to Indonesia via Vietnam. These imported condoms were not individually packed, but were simply put in plastic bags and paper. These condoms were rejected by electronic testing in the factory. The documents with the container do not show who is the actual owner.

Indonesia seizes 3.4 million euro worth of ecstasy Indonesian authorities have seized ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of 3.4 million euro. Five people - among them were two Malaysians - were also arrested during raids in several locations of Jakarta. About half a million pills were confiscated from several apartments in Jakarta, told Indradi Thanos, the director of the narcotics department from the national police.
