Indonesia to get 2 billion euro investment from Middle East Middle East investors plan to spend about two billion euro on projects in Indonesia, Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported, citing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Emaar Properties PJSC, Pacific Inter-Link Sdn Bhd, Al Ghurair Group, Ras Al Khaimah and Limitless LLC are among the investors planning to enter Indonesia, Bisnis said.

Earthquake halts Pertamina's Balongan refinery A 7.5 magnitude earthquake that hit west Java early Thursday has forced a Pertamina oil refinery to be shut down for the next three days. The Balongan refinery in the town of Indramayu, which was close to the earthquake's epicenter, was shut down temporarily after the powerful quake caused power failure in the compound of the refinery.

Report: Iran to take stake in Indonesia oil refinery Iran will invest up to 30 pct of the costs of building an oil refinery in Indonesia for which it will supply crude oil, the Wall Street Journal reported. In its online edition, the newspaper cited officials as saying the National Iranian Oil Refinery and Distribution Co will build the refinery with Elnusa, a unit of Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina.

Fuel imports slump as consumption declines Oil traders looking for a rebound in Indonesia’s oil demand that could resuscitate moribund diesel and gasoline markets may be in for a long wait as Indonesians have quickly learned to live with less fuel. Despite hopes for a quick recovery, consumers in Asia’s fifth-biggest oil user are burning nearly 20 percent or 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) less fuel than a year ago after the government doubled retail prices last October, industry officials say.

New oil refinery inaugurated in Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyonoofficially inaugurated a new oil refinery in Balongan, Indramayu, West Java province on Sunday. The Langit Biru refinery will boost the country's oil production in order to reduce the country's dependence on importedfuel, official news agency Antara reported. Susilo said that the refinery could also help save the state budget from rocketing oil prices on the international market.

Indonesia and China ink billions in energy pacts Indonesian companies signed billions of dollars in energy investment deals with Chinese counterparts on the sidelines of a state visit by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Beijing last week, the Economics Ministry said Monday. "Out of the seven investment plans (that were signed last week), three will be realized soon with (financial) support from Chinese banks, and don't require guarantees from the government of Indonesia," the ministry said in a statement.

Indonesia to import Russian diesel fuel State oil and gas company PT Pertamina will import diesel fuel from Russia as part of a three-year long term contract, a top company official said on Tuesday. "The import of Russian diesel fuel can save up Rp 1 trillion (US$109 million) per year as the price is cheaper," president director Widya Purnama said.

Defence minister blames al-Qaida for Bali bombing Indonesia's defense minister blamed al-Qaida and its extremist allies for the massive bomb attack that killed more than 180 people at a nightclub on the resort island of Bali. "We are sure al-Qaida is here," Matori Abdul Djalil said after a Cabinet meeting in Jakarta. "The Bali bomb blast is related to al-Qaida with the cooperation of local terrorists."

Diesel fuel crisis hits Central Java, Jakarta A shortage in supplies of diesel fuel is being experienced again in parts of Java but state oil company Pertamina insisted on Saturday that the supply was sufficient for the next three weeks. Pertamina suspects that the problem lies in the transportation system which is controlled by the private sector. This time the hardest hit by the shortage is Central Java. In Jakarta, an undersupply of diesel fuel has been reported in West and East Jakarta.
