At least 12 killed in Cianjur tour bus accident  Going downhill at high speed in Cianjur, West Java, a tour bus hit a rocky hillside, leaving 12 people dead, 12 sustained severe injury, and tens other had minor injury, according to a report on Wednesday.

Iron from new Suramadu brigde stolen Staff of the Highway Patrol (PJR) on the recently opened Suramadu bridge between Surabaya and Madura have caught a thief which had just stolen a piece of iron used to break the waves around one of the towers in the middle of the bridge. It is not the first time that iron has been stolen from the bridge, and stealing already started even before the bridge was officially opened.

89 kilograms of marijuana found in one room The local police in Depok have succeeded in seizing 89 kilograms of marijuana ready to be distributed in a boarding house in the Pancoran Mas Permai housing complex in the city in West Java province. The police was not able to arrest the person who was about to distribute the drugs, only known by his initials A.Y.

Two terrorists shot dead in Bekasi The Indonesian police have shot and killed two terrorists in a raid on the Nusaphala Indah housing complex in Jati Asih in the city of Bekasi, West Java province, early this morning. When the police started the raid, the two of them tried to escape. The identity of the two terrorists is not known yet. Based on information gathered on the scene, the police also found explosives and a red pick-up truck which was parked in front of the house.

The southern edge of Yogya: A truck on the run Departing from the flatlands from the beach of Parangtritis I decided to head east for a little while. The small mountain road up is a very nice route with generally good road conditions. It is a trip into history a little bit with houses made of bamboo and plaid work mats as walls which you will find here in some places. There are here, at just several dozen kilometers distance from the city of Yogyakarta, still villages that don't even have access to power at all.

Indonesia leader upbeat on economy, vows to aid poor Indonesia's president pledged on Wednesday to use an anticipated pick-up in Southeast Asia's biggest economy to tackle poverty, and also to stick with a fight against corruption and encourage foreign investment. In an annual address to parliament ahead of Indonesia's Aug. 17 independence day, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono focused on the economy,but also hailed a peace deal in Aceh and repeated a willingness to commit troops to a U.N. force in Lebanon.

Sumatran elephants face extinction in Indonesia The number of Sumatran elephants in Indonesia's Riau province has declined by nearly 75 per cent in the past 11 years and without improved management, they face likely extinction in another five years, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said on Wednesday.

Export fall hits Indonesia Indonesia's economy grew 3.66 per cent in 2002, but showed signs that exports and domestic consumption were faltering toward the end of the year, the Government said yesterday. The growth was largely fuelled by a pick-up in consumer spending, which recovered after collapsing following the 1997-98 Asian financial crisis.
