Both are suspected of being involved in a bribery and extortion scandal that has rocked Indonesia.

Of the remaining 92 river still flowing, most of these are doing so with substantially reduced flow rates. A 3-year old boy has been hospitalized in Jakarta with bird flu, according to the Health Ministry yesterday. Nyoman Kandun, director of disease control for Indonesia's health ministry, informed that two separate laboratory tests confirmed that the boy has the H5N1 bird flu virus. Reuters press agency reported that the boy only had minor symptoms however. This case is the 111th case of bird flu in Indonesia.

Mount Kelud, the 1,731-meter volcano with a history of deadly eruptions, is still about to erupt, keeping tens of thousands of residents in refugee shelters. A scientist at one of the monitoring posts around the volcano said that the water in the 15-meter deep crater lake reached 39.0° C on Saturday morning, that is just below the 40.0° C before it's last eruption in 1990.

Mount Krakatau's volcanic activity has increased over the past three days, prompting Indonesian authorities to raise its status. The volcano produced some 20 tremors per hour and released white smoke up to 200 meters in the sky every hour since October 24, according to a monitoring officer near the volcano.

Indonesian scientists are closely monitoring three simmering volcanoes across the nation on Friday. A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter Scale has struck off the island of Sumatra. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. A tsunami-alert was issued briefly as well. The US Geological Survey said that the quake took place 135 kilometer southwest of Bengkulu, where people woke up from their sleeps early on Thursday.
