The Jakarta Post reports that Garuda Indonesia has allocated US$100 million (70 million euro) for expenditure in 2010 as the first of five yearly installments that will increase the airline's present fleet from 67 to 116 aircraft. The Mount Batur volcano, located on the island of Bali shows signs of renewed activity. The first recorded eruption of the volcano was in 1804. Since then it erupted at least 28 times with intervals of between one and 39 years. Normally the 1,717 meter high volcano erupts in a strombolian eruption where lava just flows out of it's crater. The last eruption as on July 7, 2000.

Kolmi spokesman Abdul Hamim Fauzie said via a statement in the capital Jakarta on Sunday that the coalition considered the practice of polygamous marriage degrading, not only to women, but to men as well.

The Sancaka train on route from Surabaya to Yogyakarta derailed near the village of Awar-Awar, Wilingan, in the regency of Nganjuk in East Java last evening. The cause of the derailment is not known yet. The train left from Surabaya at 17:00 local time, and should arrive in Yogyakarta around 23:00. Many people on several stations were stranded because of the derailment.

President Yudhoyono asked the police once more to release any evidence related to the case, because until now the police only pointed fingers but never produced any evidence.

Indonesian exports grew 17.7% between 2005 and 2008, higher than the 10% growth worldwide in that same period. The fire brigade received information about the fire around midnight local time and sent 17 fire trucks to the location to battle the flames. Around two o'clock in the morning, the fire had largely been put out and fire crew was busy cooling down the smoldering remains of the market.

Five people died and two others were injured after a landslide hit Indonesia's Pati regency of Central Java province at dawn Tuesday, the Elshinta online news reported. The landslide hit a cliff that collapsed on three houses at Kedungwinong village of Sukolilo sub regency, Pati regency.

The Indonesian government has made a first estimation about the costs of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the quake-hit area of West Sumatra. The total costs are now estimated at 7 trillion Rupiah (500 million euro). The minister of Culture and Tourism, Jero Wacik, has said that Indonesia would plan on attracting ten million visitors to the country in 2014. Although targets are often set in Indonesian tourism, they are rarely met, but this does not refrain the minister, just inaugurated for his second term, from setting high goals for his department.

The Indonesian government and aid agencies have begun building temporary shelters for hundreds of thousands of people displaced by last month's earthquake in West Sumatra Province. The customs at the international airport of Soekarno-Hatta near Jakarta have stopped the smuggling of some 26.8 kilograms of drugs and 17.5 liters of liquid drugs towards the Middle East. The drugs are worth some 195 billion Rupiah (13.8 million euro). Ten people from the Middle East were to fly on four separate flights to carry the drugs to their destination.

The national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has announced that it would add a flight between Surakarta and Jakarta starting from November amid growing demand on the route. An Indonesia maid working in Malaysia has been tortured and abused by her two bosses. She was chained, regularly beaten with an iron stick and forced to sleep at the toilet. She was eventually rescued by the Malaysian police from the house where she worked in Taman Sentosa, Kelang, Selangor on Tuesday afternoon.

An Indonesian court has acquitted controversial Muslim cleric Pujiono Cahyo Widianto over child sexual molestation charges for marrying an underage girl, aged 12 last year. Widianto risked up to 15 years in jail, had he been convicted of the charges. Prosecutors said they would appeal the court ruling. The girl is his second wife.

This is also done to attract more visitors to the museum as well. The head of the museum, Indra Riawan, said that they were looking to complete the planning for the new museum before the end of the year.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter Scale, according to the Indonesian Geophysics agency, has struck 143 kilometers southeast of the city of Sukabumi, which was hit hard during the 7.3 magnitude earthquake on September 2, 2009. The earthquake struck at 07:26 local time (GMT+7) and had it's epicenter at sea. The quake was not strong enough to cause a tsunami however.

A.A., as he is named popularly, has been put on non-active shortly after his arrest. Since he was the head of the corruption watchdog, there was no way that he would be able to return to his post, even if he was to be freed later on.
