Leaders of islamic groups condemn terrorist attacks In the last few days it has become clear that the idea to blow up the restaurants of the J.W. Marriott Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Hotel might have originated from the Malaysian terrorist-on-the-run Noordin Mohammad Top, which is related to the Southeast Asian terrorist network of Jemaah Islamiyah. Also some pesantren (islamic boarding school) in Central Java are closely watched for their possible connection to that person.

The easy life in the kampung The long trip by bus lay behind us when we arrived at what we called home at half past three in the night. Most of the family stayed awake to greet us, so not to be rude I sat down on the wooden bench to eat something. After that it was soon time to excuse me to catch some sleep. I just wanted to go along with the rest here, so getting up early is something obligatory. Of course there is the understanding that I didn't have much sleep, so I could get some sleep without any problems.

A trip by bus from Kampung Rambutan to Karangbawang At the end of a Sunday afternoon we left from Lippo Cikarang in the direction of Kampung Rambutan, a bus terminal at the edge of Jakarta. From here we would take the bus later today. We would take the one headed for Cilacap at the southern coast of Central Java to bring a visit to the family of my girlfriend. The trip to the bus terminal took about one hour, which was only a small leg in the entire trip.

A peek into Jakarta's nightlife, CJ's Anther club is located at just a stones throw distance from the hotel discusses earlier, Shangri-La, and offers the same line of entertainment. The atmosphere however is slightly different than that of B.A.T.S., something that is caused by a different type of visitors that visits this place. In B.A.T.S. it is mainly Western expats, here the area is full of Koreans, Japanese, Indians and Africans from 'south of the Sahara', which is the politically correct name now I suppose.

A world of snow and ice in Yogyakarta Yeah, the title looks like pure fraud, but that doesn't seem to be completely true though. For some time now, about one and a half year, Yogyakarta has its own ice rink for those who want to skate some rounds or just want to do crazy on two of those thin metal strips under your feel. That is at least what they say in advertisements for the ice rink. That reality is slightly different than in those advertisements, is not really amazing. However the leaflet got in a pile 'still to do' somewhere on my desk, I already had the chance to have a look what the fuss was all about.
