Potential geothermal reserves found in Kolaka The energy and mineral resources ministry said a potential geothermal reserve has been found in the district of Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi Province. The geothermal reserve was found near nickel mines in Kolaka by the ministry`s researchers, Made Suantika, the head of soil shifting and mitigation division at the ministry, said here.

More power needed to power Bali Bali Post predicts that by 2013 Bali will be facing an electrical crisis made all the more acute by large scale infrastructure projects scheduled to come on line in time for the Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) Summit scheduled for late 2013. Among the projects cited as placing an added, and possibly unsupportable burden, on Baliís electrical grid are the new toll way, the expansion of Baliís airport, the Bali International Park Project (BIP) and the opening of a number large hotel projects.

Indonesia, the world\'s fourth most-populous nation, has intensified its plans for the construction of nuclear power plants in an attempt to alleviate dependency on oil-and-gas to accommodate the growing demand for electricity, said Eko Hatmo, a senior official at the state-run national Atomic Energy Agency.

President: RI consuming energy inefficiently President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here Friday Indonesia was consuming energy in less efficient ways than other countries and called on the people and state officials to help conserve energy. The government is trying its best to conserve energy and to find other alternative energy sources such as solar energy, coal and castor oil, he said when inaugurating 13 geothermal and oil projects.

51 burned to death as bus rams into truck in Situbondo At least 51 people, including 48 students of a senior high school in Sleman regency, Yogyakarta, were killed as their bus collided with a trailer truck and a minivan on Wednesday night in Situbondo regency, East Java. The grisly traffic accident took place at around 8 p.m. in the area of Banyu Glugur that borders Situbondo and the neighboring regency of Probolinggo, near the Paiton geothermal power plant.
