Made in Chian - for sale in Indonesia I was shopping earlier today and when queuing up the cashier - it was crowded because it is still Idul Fitri - I noticed a small pack of fireworks. Attracted to everything that burns, I grabbed it to take a closer look. I did not have the intention to buy it, since I am supposed to be an adult now, not playing with fireworks like I did when I was ten.

Batam police chief does not know his staff is raiding hotels Hotel operators in Batam have complained about raids on their hotels by local police. They say it hurts tourism more than it improves safety or anything else. The raids started with the start of the holy month of fasting, Ramadan, but the Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants' (PHRI) on the island has said that the national police is no moral police.

A peek into Jakarta's nightlife, CJ's Anther club is located at just a stones throw distance from the hotel discusses earlier, Shangri-La, and offers the same line of entertainment. The atmosphere however is slightly different than that of B.A.T.S., something that is caused by a different type of visitors that visits this place. In B.A.T.S. it is mainly Western expats, here the area is full of Koreans, Japanese, Indians and Africans from 'south of the Sahara', which is the politically correct name now I suppose.

A peek into Jakarta's nightlife, Stadium However the name might look like you are attending a game of soccer when you enter this piece of 'paradise on earth', it is not anything like it. It could at best be a nice confusion of words if you are smart enough, so you will not be caught for lying when you are telling in all honesty that you went to the stadium, but keep it in English then. The building that calls itself 'Stadium' is not just a club, it is a center of pleasure and entertainment, 24 hours a day, almost all days of the year.

A peek into Jakarta's nightlife, the women of B.A.T.S. The later it gets the more clear it becomes that it is not all about the music, the band and the alcohol here. Pleasure is okay, but there is much more to get here that just that. The later it gets, a part of the people here starts to show more and more lowbrow attitude. In some areas you will see women hopping from one man to another. It could just be to greet them a 'bye bye', but all changes if you know better than that, because there is more to it.

Ramadan on Batam: 'You wanna fuck nice girl?' I probably have to stress once again that it was broad daylight when I walked around in the nightlife district of Batam - which is better known as 'Kampung Bule' indeed. However I have to be honest that I don't know what is usually going on at night here, I could imagine certain aspects of nightlife here from stories and Googling for certain keywords of course. Not directly what I am looking for, and maybe because of that reason I just explored the area during broad daylight to see what is going on here. From the Nagoya Hill shopping mall I walked to a local warnet (internet cafe) to check some things out and to make my walk around the district.
