More than 100 people clash over Facebook comments in Bali More than 100 Balinese villagers clashed on Saturday night over comments made on the social networking site Facebook, the Jakarta Globe reported. The fighting began around 10 p.m. on Saturday night after villagers of Buana Anyar made offending comments against villagers of Kebon Kori on Facebook.

MUI: Valentine less haram than stated earlier For those who still don't want to believe that Indonesians don't want to be submitted to too much Islamic rules we have some good news. Valentine's Day, February 14, is a day like any other according tot he Council of Islamic Scholars in Indonesia, MUI. Earlier this week the same group of no-brainers announced that Valentine's Day would be entirely haram because it was not in line with Islam.

Burger King to stop buying oil from Sinar Mas Environmentalists on Saturday praised Burger King's decision to stop buying palm oil from an Indonesian company accused of destroying rainforests. The U.S. hamburger chain giant said Friday that it was canceling its contract with PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology over concerns it had not adopted sustainable farming practices.

The singer was named a suspect after the police questioned the three celebrities and expert witnesses over the last two weeks.

Teen prostitution on the rise in Bandung The Bandung authority is at loss to uncover cases of covert prostitution involving junior and senior high school students, whose number continues to rise in the West Java capital. Eli, a sex worker advocacy program mentor from the Rumah Cemara Group in Bandung, said it was hard to provide advocacy to teenagers involved in covert prostitution since most were not receptive.

A short break in Taman Menteng At a normal weekday I took a reasonable early air-conditioned bus to Jakarta. I regularly make this trip because it enables me to travel cheap as well as fast - as fast as traffic allows the bus to go - to downtown Jakarta.

1,000,000 supporters for KPK deputies on Facebook Over one million people from across the globe, but mainly from Indonesia, have joined a group on the social networking website Facebook to show their support of the two deputies of the Corruption Eradication Commission KPK that were arrested by the police last week. Both are suspected of being involved in a bribery and extortion scandal that has rocked Indonesia.

Facebook can help you out of jail Complain about the bad service you received and you can end up in jail for a couple of years and pay a fine of 261 milion rupiah. A 32 year old mother with 2 children complained about the service from the Omni international hospital by email to a friend. This email was send to several blogs and the hospital made a justice case of it because of disgrace. She lost the case and has to pay 261 million rupiah.

Now the East Java department of the Council of Islamic Scholars in Indonesia (MUI, Majelis Ulama Indonesia) is talking about the fact that some websites can possibly have a bad influence on young people it is time for us to select a random picture from one of those so-called dangerous websites, Facebook, Myspace, Friendster and other social networking websites.

Muslim clerics ban gossiping, flirting on Facebook Muslim clerics in Indonesia's East Java province Friday banned the faithful from gossiping and flirting on social networking websites such as Facebook and Friendster. The clerics also urged Facebook and Friendster to curb what they called "lewd and pornographic" content and warned that they would request the government to block the sites if their call went unheeded.
