Army dormitory in Cirebon catches fire The Army dormitory in West Java`s Cirebon city caught fire on Tuesday, leaving about 150 people displaced. It was believed the fire which broke out at 04.00 p.m. local time was caused by an exploding 3-kg gas cylinder, eyewitness Ahmad said.

Kebayoran Baru, the first housing complex Living in Kebayoran Baru area remains just a dream for most Jakartans. The area not only offers luxurious housing but also hang out spots such as malls, hotels, cafes and the like. However, history has shown that Kebayoran Baru needed years before developing itself into an "attractive" neighborhood. In the 1950s, it was still an "unwanted" living area as it was located eight kilometers from the city center, considered quite far at the time. In addition, road access to the area was inadequate as the housing was built on a plantation.

Scores of weapons confiscated from Gus Dur supporters Police seized hundreds of weapons and arrested 22 people as thousands of President Abdurrahman Wahid supporters from East Java arrived here on Tuesday. Jakarta Police Detective Chief Sr. Comr. Adang Rochana said the people were arrested at city bus terminals and railway stations for possessing illegal weapons. Police questioned an additional 100 people but later released them.

Gus Dur supporters start pouring into the capital Amid increasing worries of possible civil unrest over the current political situation, hundreds of supporters of President Abdurrahman Wahid arrived here on Monday to show support for their embattled leader. People grouped in the United People's Movement (Garab) from Malang and Blitar, East Java, arrived at Senen railway station in Central Jakarta on Monday. Many other supporters took buses to the capital.

Two killed, 2 injured in Guntur bomb blast A powerful bomb blast ripped through the Acehnese students dormitory in South Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, killing two men instantly and injuring two others. The blast caused extensive damage to the building, reducing part of the Iskandar Muda Aceh dormitory to rubble.

From his grief-gouged eyes to the way he presses his hands together to stop them from shaking, it's clear that if Syamsudin Noor makes it through the next few weeks, he is still a dead man inside. Syamsudin has pushed through a crowd of fellow refugees to tell his story, describing in patient detail how a visitation of almost unimaginable brutality destroyed his remote village of Sangai in Indonesia's Kalimantan province. "All my children, my grandchildren were killed," he mourns. "They cut off their heads and then cut them up and took them away to eat. There were a lot of Madurese in Sangai. Now 95% of us are dead."
