List of most influential Muslems: Congratulations Indonesia! Congratulations! Indonesia did not win again. They did not loose either, but are just playing a small role in this case. Most likely that is the best solution as well. Huh? What? Not winning is still okay? For sure, since it is all about the small representation of Indonesians in the list of 500 most prominent Muslems in the world.

The new Gajayana between Malang and Jakarta It has been a year ago that I used the Indonesian railroad services. That was a trip from Yogyakarta to Jakarta with a dirty, cold and old-fashioned train. Trains like that are still widely available on Java. It normally is really cold on board of one of these trains, which makes traveling with them not the best option available.

Back in Yogya: crowds in the streets I moved from Yogya some five months ago now. I don't have any feeling that resembled homesickness, but it is not bad at all to be back here again for a few days. A few days back already I woke up when the bus had already left the area of Semarang, which meant that it was less than three hours traveling before the bus would drop us at one of the big intersections along the southern ring road of the city.

Back to Yogya: twelve hours by bus How to get to Yogyakarta? Of course the plane is a good solution from Jakarta, but we didn't want to. My plan was to catch the bus in the morning, so we would arrive in Yogya in the evening, but as we found out there were no morning buses departing for Yogya from Cikarang, so we just took the bus departing in the evening, because we wanted to go to Yogya anyway.

The mess at PLN Cikarang #4 Just a few days after I had reported myself to the offices of PLN (the state-owned energy company_ two men reported to the house on a Friday afternoon. Only two pilots in simulator, training a success The first reaction from Indonesia on the ban to fly to countries of the European Union for all Indonesian airliners was as clear as it could be. Furious they were, because there were no structural problems at all in the airline industry in the country. President Yudhoyono even canceled a visit to the Netherlands because of the ban. And all this even when there was not a single Indonesian airliner flying to Europe, since Garuda Indonesia had stopped flying to Amsterdam late 2004 already.

Another hour of delay Before you know it you are in another boarding room. In this case on the airport of Hang Nadim. Back to Jakarta indeed, but the Batavia Air plane has not arrived yet so the minutes of delay start to count already. In contrary to the airport of Jakarta, there are no boards with information about the recently introduced laws on the protection of passengers in case of delay. Most people don't know about the fact that they have the right to a snack and a drink if there is a delay indeed.

One hour delay at Soetta I have just arrived at 'Soekarno-Hatta International Airport of Jakarta', or short just 'the airport' or even shorter Soetta. Later this afternoon, at 16:20 local time, my flight should depart. When I got out of the taxi about half an hour ago I first bought a cup of iced tea at A&W. Not the best choice in the area, but I needed over an hour to reach the airport and had already spend an hour in the bus. Two hours without drinking is far from good for me.

Thirteen f*cking demonstrations in Jakarta today One demonstration causes irritation, two demonstrations cause a traffic jam, three demonstrations is still quite normal in Jakarta. Four is okay as well, but the one who gave a permit for all thirteen demonstrations held today alone should be publicly humiliated by driving him through Jalan Thamrin at lunchtime a few times. Too stupid for words, all those demonstrations on just ONE single day in one of the most congested cities on this planet.

A simple terrorist hide-out in Bekasi Always wondered what a terrorist hide-out would look like? Well, it looks like any other house in the block because residents should not be aware of any strange activities of course. Terrorists prefer to blend in with the local population. The ones hiding out in the house in Temanggung that was stormed earlier today even worked the fields!

Indonesia healthcare system failing millions Indonesia's health system is failing to provide even the most basic care to vast swathes of the population, say specialists. Many who cannot afford doctors' fees often receive no treatment at all, while the wealthy fly abroad for a check-up. The system is plagued by under-funding, decentralization, lack of qualified staff, rising medical costs and outdated medical equipment, say insiders.
