National Police maps community group affiliated with ISIS The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has mapped a community group, which is allegedly affiliated with Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). "The people affiliated with ISIS are hard-line groups that have existed in Indonesia, and they have already been mapped by the police. We continue to track them," Sutarman stated here on Thursday.

Bali police arrest 80 illegal immigrants The Bali police have arrested 80 illegal immigrants from Middle Eastern countries in Badung Strait about a mile from the Benoa Port in Denpasar. "Around 05.00 a.m. local time our patrol officers saw a suspicious boat, so they stopped it and checked the passengers one by one," Bali provincial police spokesman Comr. Indonesian embassy`s driver shot dead in Damascus A driver of the Indonesian embassy, Abdul Rojak Harbi - a Syrian national - was shot dead in Damascus while he was taking the embassy`s car to a workshop. Indonesian Ambassador to Syria, Wahib Abdul Jawad, told ANTARA on Friday that Harbi, 56, who had worked for the embassy since 1985, was buried near his home in Damascus.

Rp 200 billion drug smuggling plot Jakarta airport foiled The customs at the international airport of Soekarno-Hatta near Jakarta have stopped the smuggling of some 26.8 kilograms of drugs and 17.5 liters of liquid drugs towards the Middle East. The drugs are worth some 195 billion Rupiah (13.8 million euro). Ten people from the Middle East were to fly on four separate flights to carry the drugs to their destination.

Denmark pulls ambassadors from Syria, Iran, Indonesia Denmark has temporarily withdrawn its ambassadors from Syria, Iran and Indonesia because their safety was at risk in the wake of a Danish newspaper's publication of drawings of the Prophet Muhammad, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday. Denmark's embassy buildings in all three countries had been targeted by angry mobs protesting the publication of the caricatures in September. European and American newspapers subsequently reprinted the drawings.

Indonesia welcomes release of hostages in Iraq Indonesia has today welcomed the release of two of its nationals who had been held hostage in Iraq, and reiterated earlier warnings for all its citizens to immediately leave the war-torn country. “This is a happy ending,” Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda said. “Often cases like this end in disaster.” The two women, Rosidah binti Anan and Rafikan binti Aming, were handed over to the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Baghdad last night.

163 boatpeople feared drowned off Australian coast Up to 163 illegal immigrants were feared drowned off Australia's north coast Wednesday when two boats disappeared in treacherous waters en route from Indonesia. Immigration Minister Philip Ruddock said credible reports from Indonesia said the two boats, carrying people from various Middle Eastern countries, had left on the two-to-three day trip from Java to Ashmore Reef in Australian waters last week but failed to arrive.
