French 'Survivor' to shoot in Raja Ampat Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik is excited about a French filmmaker’s plans to shoot a reality television series in the Raja Ampat Islands in West Papua. Jero said Thursday about 200 crew members would film "Koh Lanta", the French franchise of the popular American reality television show "Survivor", in Raja Ampat.

Shark sanctuary declared in eastern Indonesia Misool Eco Resort and Shark Savers on Tuesday announced that a Shark Sanctuary has been declared for the entire 17,760 square miles of Raja Ampat, Indonesia, located in the eastern region of the country. Jogjakarta awarded 'Best Travel Destination 2009' Jogjakarta has been awarded the award for Best Travel Destination 2009 by the Indonesian Tourism Award 2009 (ITA 2009). It is the first time that the award has been given by Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with SWA Magazine. Nine other cities, Denpasar, Malang, Surabaya, Tana Toraja, Manado, Kutai Kertanegara, Badung, Solo and Lombok also received awards.
