Mount Krakatau: tremblors up to five times a minute Scientists at the observation post for the Mount Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra have announced that the number of tremors in the volcano has now increased to up to four or five a minute. During Wednesday, a total of 5,000 tremors were recorded.

Mount Krakatau volcano sends ash clouds in the sky The height of the ash clouds that are exhausted by the Mount Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait now reach heights up to 1200 meters. This is not very unusual for the volcano, but does show that the volcano is still very active. The ash cloud is currently blown into southern direction, towards the Indian Ocean.

Mount Krakatau volcano still produces sound of explosions The Mount Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Sumatra and Java still causes regular explosions with a heavy thundering sound. These explosions can be heard as far away as the nearest mainland at Anyer, almost 50 kilometers away, where windows are trembling. The head of the observation post for the volcano confirmed the regular bangs.

Mount Krakatau volcano emits molten rock The Mount Krakatau volcano has showed increased activity once again last Saturday. Glowing hot molten rock was emitted by the volcano and reached up to 75 meters above the crater. The activity has been increasing for some time now, according to information from the observation post for the volcano in the town of Serang in the far west of the island Java.

Mount Krakatau ash clouds reach up to two kilometers The height of the ash clouds that are currently being emitted by the Mount Krakatau volcano is still increasing and reaches almost up to two kilometers now. The volcano, located in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra, also shows an increase in the amount of tremors inside the belly of the volcano.

Mount Krakatau shakes and moans The Mount Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait between the islands Java and Sumatra is producing heavy sounds and tremors inside it's belly. The sounds and tremors are also getting increasingly more regular, according to the head of the observation post for the volcano in Cinangka, Serang district, in the province of Banten.

Between volcanoes There are those period in which the normal life gets a little bit more exciting. It is mainly the many volcanoes which show off at the most strange times and can cause the most strange events. In the middle of 2006 it was the Mount Merapi volcano which caused people to flee it's slopes with an outflow of lava and some lahar (hot or cold mud flows with volcanic rocks), right now I am virtually half way between the Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait and the Mount Kelud volcano in eastern Java.

Mount Krakatau ejects hot stones and debris Volcanic activity at the Mount Anak Krakatau is still rising. Until 06:00 (GMT+7) there were 52 eruptions in which hot stones and debris was ejected from the volcano. Until this moment, the status of the volcano just off the western tip of Java, in the Sunda Strait is still 'on watch'. Between 00:00 and 06:00 (GMT+7) there were 24 volcanic tremors recorded by the observation post. There was an ejection of hot volcanic stones and debris 52 times and seven times a small earthquake. The eruptions of the Mount Anak Krakatau volcano reaches heights of between 100 and 300 meters from the peak of the volcano.

Mount Krakatau spews lava Mount Krakatau - in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra - has been put on the second-highest alert because it has been spewing ash for several days now. Saut Simatupang, from the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, said that the increased activity of the Anak Krakatau volcano posed a big danger so people have been advised to stay outside a three-kilometer danger zone around the volcano.

Mount Krakatau increases volcanic activity Mount Krakatau's volcanic activity has increased over the past three days, prompting Indonesian authorities to raise its status. The volcano produced some 20 tremors per hour and released white smoke up to 200 meters in the sky every hour since October 24, according to a monitoring officer near the volcano.
