More tourists visiting Komodo Island The number of foreign tourists visiting Komodo National Park has increased since Komodo became a finalist in the New7Wonders of Nature competition, East Nusa-Tenggara Deputy Governor Esthon Foenay said. "Up to August 2011, some 32,354 foreign tourists visited the Komodo national park while the number of domestic tourists who came to the island was 4,145, up from 2,955 in 2010," the deputy governor said.

This time it's fake tax duties that are filling up pockets of crooked employees at the airport. 75 killed in Sumatra quake Padang Mayor Fauzi Bahar said Wednesday at least 75 people had been killed during the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that rocked West Sumatra earlier in the afternoon. Kompas.com reported the mayor had phoned Vice President Jusuf Kalla to inform him of the number during an emergency Cabinet meeting at Kalla's house in Central Jakarta this evening.

Official: 'Papua waisted 30 trillion Rupiah on autonomy' In the eight years that a special autonomy has been in place in Papua, the people there still do not enjoy improved welfare, partly because incompetent government actions in the two provinces. Yudhoyono leads in exit polls Current President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is currently on the lead in the exit polls held in various locations throughout Indonesia. Almost 180 million Indonesians are allowed to cast their vote today on who they would like to be their president in the coming five years. Earlier opinion polls already showed that Yudhoyono had a big lead over the other two presidential candidates; Megawati Soekarnoputri (former president, followed up by Yudhoyono in 2004) and Jusuf Kalla, the current vice-president.

Bus with vice-president breaks down on Jakarta toll road A Blue Star bus with on board vice-president Jusuf Kalla broke down on the Cakung-Cilincing toll road. Directly after the breakdown, Kalla was brought to another vehicle to continue his journey. The bus also transported the minister of Public Works, Joko Kirmanto, the minister of Public Housing, Yusuf Asy'ari and a number of people of the presidential guard and other people from the two departments.

North Bali airport confirmed Jakarta Post reports that Bali's Governor Made Mangku Pastika has now confirmed that Bali will move ahead with plans to build a second airport near its northern shore. Vice-President ends Bali airport depate Indonesia's Vice President Jusuf Kalla has apparently brought to an end the long-standing debate on the future of Bali's international airport by instructing that a Rp. 1.2 trillion (80 million euro) expansion must be completed by 2011. As reported by Bisnis Indonesia, the Vice President issued his instructions following an inspection visit to the airport over the Christmas/New Year period.
