Indonesia media conspires against Yudhoyono Demonstrators that demand the resignation of president Yudhoyono and vice-president Boediono took to the streets yesterday as well. Demonstrations occurred in cities across Indonesia, but the biggest demonstration was held in Makassar, South Sulawesi. If the biggest demonstration was there and not in Jakarta, it is a sign that it wasn't all that important after all.

Aburizal Bakrie forgets his own mess and talks Century Aburizal Bakrie seems to be very eager to move on and leave his own muddy 'history' behind him. The chairman of the Golkar Party has said that the scandal around Bank Century should be completely clear for the public. He seems to forget that his own mud flow near Sidoarjo is covering up large parts of that district for almost four years now.

There are 34 ministers, most of them are politicians from his coalition parties. Six ministers were from his own Democratic Party, including the important minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Aburizal Bakrie elected as Golkar chairman The Coordinating Minister for Peopleís Welfare, Aburizal Bakrie, has been elected chairman of the Golkar Party early on Thursday, paving the way for the much-anticipated alliance with the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Aburizal secured 296 votes, while his closest rival, Surya Paloh only received 240.

'Suharto's son wants Indonesian presidency' Hutomo Mandala Putra, the son of late Indonesian president Suharto, has started his effort to finally become a president. An aide of Tommy, as he is widely known, has said this to the press. Tommy has built up quite an impressive 'track record' in legal matters, including a conviction for murder. He is now seeking to become the new leader of the Golkar Party, the political movement of his father, which has been in turmoil after loosing the recent elections.

Yudhoyono's Democrat Party wins Indonesia's election The ruling Democrat Party led by Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won the republicís legislative election, winning 148 seats. The final results of the April 9 election, announced by the election commission last night, showed that the Democrat controlled 26.43% of the 560-seat parliament.

Big political coalition to challenge Yudhoyono Indonesia's five big parties declared a big coalition on Friday to challenge current President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Democratic Party in the upcoming presidential elections. The parties involved in the coalition are the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Golkar Party, Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra), People Conscience Party (Hanura) and the Unity and Development Party (PPP). Six other smaller parties were also involved in the coalition.

34 political parties approved to join 2009 elections As much as 34 political parties have passed the factual verification process and are entitled to join the general elections in 2009. There are two different groups; 16 parties which already joined the last general elections and 18 new parties. This information was released by the chairman of the meeting held by the General Elections Committee KPU after their meeting last evening.

Seven parties are entitled to join without any checks, they are the biggest seven at this moment. Nine others were preferred and 35 new parties have their administrative registration passed.

President announces cabinet reshuffle President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced a cabinet reshuffle for six positions of ministers, while Attorney General Abdurahman Saleh was replaced by Hendarman Supandji, chairman of the Corruption Eradication Team. The President said that under his authority he conducted the reshuffle in an effort to improve the performance of the cabinet.
