Twelve suspected terrorists arrested in Jakarta region The anti terror unit of the Indonesian national police, Densus 88, has arrested a number of suspected terrorists yesterday and earlier today. This happened in a number of separate raids in the last 24 hours. The raids were held in Jakarta and Bekasi, directly east of the Indonesian capital.

Six terrorists arrested in Medan Once again the police has rounded up a number of terrorists. This time it was the city of Medan in North Sumatra that saw some of it's residents being taken away by police. They were arrested late Saturday evening and were found out to be involved with the network of Dulmatin, which has been hit hard earlier this year when the anti-terrorism unit came into action.

Yudhoyono: 'Alhamdulilah, wanted terrorist Dulmatin dead' President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has confirmed that one of the terrorists killed is indeed the wanted Dulmatin. He was shot and killed by anti-terrorism unit Densus 88 when he was in an internet cafe and tried to open fire at the approaching police.

The Philippines deports terrorist's wife to Indonesia The desire of Istiada Oemar Sovie, alias Amenah Toha, the captured wife of Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist, to be deported to Indonesia, together with all of her children, will not be realized after all. Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. said the Philippine government will have to deport Toha on or before the end of this month even without all of her six children.

Bali bomb recruiter shot dead ONE of Australia's most wanted terrorists, who recruited the suicide bombers to carry out the 2002 Bali bombings, has been killed in a shootout with Filipino soldiers. Umar Patek, a recruitment specialist for the Indonesian-based terror group Jemaah Islamiah, died in a stronghold of the Philippines militant group Abu Sayyaf. The group had been hiding Patek and his Bali bombing compatriot Dulmatin.

Dulmatin, now 35 and at the top of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) organisation, won notoriety last week when the US State Department's Rewards for Justice programme put a $10-million bounty on information leading to his capture or death.

Public places beef up security after warnings As a bomb expert who once lectured in Yogyakarta remains at large, efforts to beef up security continues at possible targets for terror bombs. Among them are the Kem Chicks market in Kemang, South Jakarta, which is a favorite shopping spot for expatriate Jakartans and their families. "We had tightened security even before the media released the news on possible targets, as most of our guests are foreigners," said the store manager on duty on Friday, who requested anonymity. The source said additional security personnel have been deployed to safeguard the store once the police revealed it as a possible target.

Bali bomb maker behind earlier attacks A fugitive wanted in connection with the Bali nightclub bombings built some of the bombs used in attacks on churches in Indonesia in 2000, police said Monday. The suspect, identified as Dulmatin, is the latest alleged link between the Bali bombers and earlier attacks in the archipelago. Last month, police said the alleged mastermind of the Bali attack, Imam Samudra, ordered the 2000 church attacks which killed 19 people.
