Police confirm arrest of two terror suspects The National Police confirmed on Monday the arrest of two men by the force's antiterror squad in Leuwilang district, Bogor regency, last week. National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Paiman said that two men had been arrested late on Friday by the police antiterror squad Detachment 88, or Den 88, led by Brig. Gen. Pranowo Dahlan. Last week Pranowo denied the arrest when asked for confirmation by The Jakarta Post, saying that there had been no arrest in Bogor by his squad and that "if there had been any arrest, it must have been related to another case."

Govt expels US think tank expert A leading American expert on Indonesia's terrorist groups has been ordered out of the country after authorities accused her of violating visa regulations. Sidney Jones, however, had earlier said the national intelligence agency chief had complained that her International Crisis Group published false reports that had damaged the country's image. Jones said she was issued with a deportation order late Tuesday. It cited immigration violations, and was effective immediately, she said.

Visa policy granted grace period The government is not postponing the new visa policy but is merely implementing a six-month transition period instead, spokesman Ade E. Dahlan for the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights said on Monday. "Actually, the transition period has been in effect since late March, so it is not an extended delay," he told The Jakarta Post. Indonesia acts to block SARS Indonesia has announced measures, including tighter checks on incoming travellers, to prevent the entry of the deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) into the country.
