Toll road projects in Dumai remains in the pipeline The government`s plan to build a 16.3 kilometer toll road between Dumai and Pekanbaru in Riau remained in the pipeline. Burning gas source found in field near Riau village A burning gas source was found in the village of Sukamaju in te Rumbai Pesisir district in Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The location of the burning gas is not too far from the oil field that is been exploited by PT Chevron Pasifik Indonesia.

Indonesia gives exploration rights on 22 oil fields Indonesia has awarded rights for exploration on 22 oil-and-gas blocks to energy companies, including ConocoPhilips, Chevron and Husky Energy, a director at the energy ministry said here Friday. "22 blocks have been awarded to foreign and local companies," Evita Legowo, director at the ministry told on telephone. The director said that a U.S. unit from Chevron got a right to look for oil on onshore and offshore oil and gas blocks of West Papua I and West Papua II.

Chevron to invest $6 bln in Indonesia gas fields Chevron Corp. (CVX.N) plans to invest about $6 billion to develop gas fields off the coast of Borneo, aiming to crank up flagging Indonesian gas output, a senior official at the country's oil watchdog said on Monday. Indonesia, the world's top liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, has failed to meet its contractual commitments to traditional buyers such as Japan, South Korea and Taiwan because of a slump in production.

Chevron finds oil in Indonesia The Indonesian government said Thursday that Chevron Corp. struck oil in a test well in Sumatra. Half of Indonesia's oil production comes from Sumatran fields, and Chevron Pacific Indonesia is the largest oil producer in that country. The Parit Minyak-1test well showed oil at two different depths -- 6,000 feet and 9,000 feet.

The government says it will gradually liberalize the domestic fuel market over the next five years, with the aim of completely eliminating costly fuel subsidies by 2010. "In the year 2010, fuel prices will be determined by the mechanism of healthy and appropriate competition, and the government will only give special help to replace subsidies for certain fuels," Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro was quoted as saying Monday (29/11/04) by detikcom online news portal.
