The new Gajayana between Malang and Jakarta It has been a year ago that I used the Indonesian railroad services. That was a trip from Yogyakarta to Jakarta with a dirty, cold and old-fashioned train. Trains like that are still widely available on Java. It normally is really cold on board of one of these trains, which makes traveling with them not the best option available.

Back in Yogya: crowds in the streets I moved from Yogya some five months ago now. I don't have any feeling that resembled homesickness, but it is not bad at all to be back here again for a few days. A few days back already I woke up when the bus had already left the area of Semarang, which meant that it was less than three hours traveling before the bus would drop us at one of the big intersections along the southern ring road of the city.

PDAM itself biggest user subterrain water in Bali Despite repeated warnings from the government to conserve sub-terrain water reservoirs in Bali, the Bali Post reports that the state water company PDAM has little hesitation to tap into Bali's diminishing underground water reserves. According to the report, in every municipality and regency of Bali, PDAM derives more water from sub-terrain reservoirs than it does from surface sources. This approach offers several advantages, including less competition with farmers for water from rivers and streams and the reduced cost of tapping into sub-terrain sources that requires less treatment than the more polluted water in Bali's rivers and streams.

The wine however is not cheap with some 100,000 Rupiah (7.50 euro) per bottle or more. The locally produced and fake branded liqor (Jack Daniel's and other well-known brands) are sold for somewhere between 15,000 and 30,000 per 0.25 liter.

Sexy, a young woman with candy Simply strange to see. Make a sexy picture of yourself, or ask your friends to make one of you, just to put this picture on your Facebook or Myspace in the hope that people are willing to give a comment on it. Many people aim at comments that are all to predictable, but short replies like "Sexy!", "Hot!" and "I would like to have sex with you!" in various phrases are all to common, also in Indonesian of course.

Made in Chian - for sale in Indonesia I was shopping earlier today and when queuing up the cashier - it was crowded because it is still Idul Fitri - I noticed a small pack of fireworks. Attracted to everything that burns, I grabbed it to take a closer look. I did not have the intention to buy it, since I am supposed to be an adult now, not playing with fireworks like I did when I was ten.

Frantic efforts to restore the peak demand capacity of 440 megawatt returned power in some areas within a half-hour, however, many consumers sat in the dark until late in the evening before power was fully restored.

Smoke from burning factory Cileungsi visible It is a nice and clear Monday morning with some slight cloud cover along the skies. Nothing special to be seen from the window on the first floor. However, there is something strange actually. In the first place it looks just like a cloud hovering above the earths surface at low altitude, but it originates from a vertical column. Smoke. And where there is smoke, there is fire indeed.

Farah Quinn the sexy TV-chef People who watch television in Indonesia probably know her. She presents a TV-program on Saturdays in which she prepares good-looking meals. Whether they taste as good as they look, I don't know because I never tried it, but there is more than just the cooking in the program 'A la Chef' she presents on Trans TV that looks good. The now 29-year old Farah Quinn, married with a bule ('Caucasian'), is quite a famous tv-person for women and men alike so it seems.

Buka botol in B.A.T.S. It was a regular Friday night on which my girlfriend and I decided to go clubbing. Not that same night because that would mean we had to hurry to go out, something that is not really beneficial and something I don't want to do at all. So not tonight, but the next night, the malam minggu (the evening before Sunday, so Saturday night) we would go to Jakarta.

How to scare the shit out of people Plane crashes normally are breaking news across the world because of their sudden nature and the often high numbers of casualties involved in that kind of accidents. Reporting such events - and others that are also causing worldwide news - should be handled with care. However it is not always that easy to select the information and images going with them. Making a mistake in a hurry is nothing uncommon as well.

Pork as zakat Most likely the clerk was slightly confuse because he was fasting that he somewhat stressed when he saw my pork. It was around five in the afternoon when I strolled through the Hypermart supermarket, searching for a small gas stove which can be put on a table during the meal. Still sold out, so I went shopping for some food. The freezer full of daging babi. White text on a red background may look like big danger, but it is merely dead, packed and frozen pork.

Only two pilots in simulator, training a success The first reaction from Indonesia on the ban to fly to countries of the European Union for all Indonesian airliners was as clear as it could be. Furious they were, because there were no structural problems at all in the airline industry in the country. President Yudhoyono even canceled a visit to the Netherlands because of the ban. And all this even when there was not a single Indonesian airliner flying to Europe, since Garuda Indonesia had stopped flying to Amsterdam late 2004 already.
