Prabowo and Jokowi share similar probability to win BOGOR, W JAVA - The results of different pollsters quick counts have shown that a possible victory belongs to both Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pairs. The two camps even declared that they won the election by referring to the outcomes of different credible pollsters quick counts.

ANTARA learned from Metro TV and TV Ones live broadcast here Wednesday that the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla camp made the claim first followed by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa duo.

According to the result of Kompas quick count, the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair gained 52.43 percent of votes while the Prabowo-Hatta duo got 47.57 percent of votes. However, three credible pollsters quick counts, whose results are broadcast live on TV One, have shown that the Prabowo-Hatta pair won more than 50 percent of votes.

The three pollsters are the National Survey Institute (LSN), the Policy and Development Strategy Research Center (Puskaptis), and the Voice of Indonesia Network (JSI).

The LSNs quick count reveals that the Prabowo-Hatta pair gains 50.54 percent of votes while its rival (49.46 percent) while the Puskaptis survey shows that the Prabowo-Hatta pair got 52.05 percent and its rival (47.95 percent).

The JSIs quick count put the Prabowo-Hatta pairs percentage of votes higher than that of the Joko Widodo-JK with percentage of 50.29 percent and 49.71 percent respectively.

In his remarks that TV One broadcast live, Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto urged the entire nation to remain patient to wait for the final result of vote counts that the General Election Commission will have announced on July 22.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has earlier called on the presidential candidates to honor the election result. "For those who win the election, it is their responsibility to lead this country. For those who receive the least votes, they must accept it genuinely," Yudhoyono stated after casting his vote at a polling booth near his residence.

Meanwhile, Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X expressed his hope that "Whoever wins this presidential election, the pair must be able to do better." This presidential election is expected to get higher voter turnout as shown by the enthusiasm of Indonesians flocking to polling stations across the country.

At the polling station number 02 of Bojong Koneng, West Java Province, where Prabowo Subianto, rival of Joko Widodo in this presidential election, tens of eligible voters have queued for casting their votes at 07.00 am local time.

Among the voters were two ladies named Mimin and Uun. Mimin clutching her infant said she had got in line at the polling station at 07.00 am. "I have been getting in the line since 7.00 am. I do not only want to cast my vote but also to see the presidential candidate Prabowo," she said.

Presidential candidate Joko Widodo and his wife Iriana are reported to cast their votes at polling station number 18 in Menteng area, Centra Jakarta. The enthusiasm of eligible voters was also seen in Denpasar and other parts of Bali Province. The roads of Denpasar city looked deserted.

In Cemara Agung, one of 10 hamlets in Monang-Maning housing complex, Denpasar Barat Subdistrict, for instance, the local residents had come to the polling stations in the morning. Most of the voters came to the polling stations by wearing their traditional costumes and some others wore casual dresses and shirts.

According to Indonesias General Election Commission (KPU), a total of 190,307,134 eligible voters have been registered for the presidential election on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 (including 2,038,711 overseas voters who have previously cast their votes) with 486,866 polling stations across the archipelago.
