JAKARTA - Presidential aspirant Joko "Jokowi" Widodos idea of mental revolution is considered to be an effective way for Indonesia to overtake the progress achieved by Singapore and Malaysia, noted his success teams spokesman Hasto Kristiyanto.
"Mental revolution is the solution to improve inadequate human resources, which make Indonesia lag far behind Singapore and Malaysia," Hasto stated here on Wednesday. The spokesman pointed out that mental revolution does not necessarily mean advancing education in Indonesia but also strengthening the nations character.
Hasto further added that Jokowis mental revolution is a transformation in thought process that will support a more accountable and less corrupt style of governance. "Mental revolution will help to develop the human personality to lead a pious life, to have a sense of humanity, to practice the tradition for deliberation and consensus, and to fight for the realization of social justice," he emphasized.
Hasto explained that mental revolution is intended to build the character of Indonesian people who are healthy, smart, and can contribute to the nations interests.
He pointed out that the concrete form of mental revolution is to make the teachers as the pillars of the state by improving their welfare and offering them the widest possible opportunities to improve the quality of education.
