JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has requested his ministers to stay focused on their ministerial programs amid his dissatisfaction with the performance of 10 ministries.
"According to my evaluation, a number of ministers performance is below expectation. There are 10 ministries whose performance is below expectation," he stated during a plenary cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.
Therefore, Yudhoyono has urged his ministers to improve their performance until the end of his governments term in October by reminding them of what was presented by Armida Alisjahbana, the head of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), and Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, the head of the Presidential Working Unit for the Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4).
According to Armida and Kuntoros presentations, several programs should have been completed until the end of the governments term in October, he said without mentioning the names of 10 ministries whose performance was below expectation.
President Yudhoyono had earlier warned his ministers, who joined any presidential and vice presidential candidates campaign teams, to be able to allocate commensurate time for both state duties and political activities.
"If they want to be part or play an active role in the candidates campaign rallies, they can choose to leave the cabinet whenever it is impossible for them to keep performing well in their ministerial posts," he emphasized.
Among the ministers supporting the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are Agung Laksono (coordinating minister for social welfare), Zulkifli Hasan (minister of forestry), Dahlan Iskan (state enterprise minister), and Muhaimin Iskandar (workforce and transmigration minister).
