JAKARTA - A number of houses were damaged in Purworejo when an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the Central Java district town at 12.14 midday on Saturday.
Head of the Central Data Service of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said here on Saturday that at least one house was demolished, while several were reported damaged in Krandegan, Bacan Subdistrict, Purworejo.
According to Sutopo, local BNPB offices in Purworejo, Cilacap, Kebumen and other districts, which also were shaken by tremors, were still collecting information about damaged buildings.
