MATARAM, WEST NUSA TENGGARA - The police arrested two alleged terror suspects on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. local time, in the Karang Bongot Village of the West Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province.
A large team of personnel was deployed for the operation, which comprised officers of the West Lombok Resort Police, West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police personnel, and also several officers of 88 Special Detachment.
The operation commenced at 6:00 p.m and ended at 9:00 p.m. All the personnel were well-equipped with full gear and weapons. The terror suspects did not show any resistance to the police while they were taken into custody in the Bumi Harapan Permai Housing Complex.
A neighbor of the suspect, Alfan, remarked that the suspects had never reported about their arrival to the local community chairman and lived in isolation. "They have never communicated with other neighbors," Alfan disclosed here on Friday.
He also claimed that there was another person residing with the four terror suspects for the past two weeks. "There is only a person who often came to my store to buy some coffee. He was humorous and thus, we never doubted that he could be a terrorist," Alfan reported.
The police has arrested two of the five occupants who are accused of conducting terrorist activities and also confiscated a computer unit, gallon, and several other items as evidence from the house.
The police claimed that three suspects came from Java Island, one person came from Sumbawa Island, and another member came from East Nusa Tenggara. The West Nusa Tenggara Police has not yet released an official statement related to the arrest operation.
An anonymous police source present at the scene quoted that two persons, who were arrested for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities, are currently under interrogation at the Headquarter of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police. The police source cited that a person with the initials "NRS" was presumed to be a new entrant in the terror network in West Nusa Tenggara.
