JAKARTA - A total of 596 Indonesians without valid visas remain in the immigration detention center at Tarhil, Shumaysi, Jeddah, according to official information. Based on a press release from the Indonesian Consulate General Jeddah received by ANTARA News here, on Friday, 400 Indonesian were deported by the Saudi Arabia government.
"In accordance with its commitment, the Government of Saudi Arabia deported 400 overstayers - 199 men, 171 women and 30 children on December 27," stated Jeddah Consulate Generals spokesperson Syarif Shahabudin in a written statement. The oversyaters were sent home on a special Saudi Airlines flight that departed at 08:55 Saudi Arabia time and expected to arrive in Jakarta at 7 p.m.
The 12th deportation effort was done by the Government of Saudi Arabia using Saudi Air special plane. According to the plan, continued repatriation by Saudi Air special plane will also be conducted on Sunday, December 29, which will be carrying about 450 people.
Earlier, the Government of Saudi Arabia has also deported Indonesian overstayers using regular Saudi Airlines plane through block seat mechanism. On December 20, 21 and 23, there were 362 Indonesians who had been deported by the Government of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia using regular planes.
Thus, the number of Indonesians that has been deported from Jeddah since the Saudi Governments amnesty period ended on November 3 has reached to more than 10,871 people.
"Of that number, as many as 2,452 have been deported using Garuda Indonesia special planes, 6042 overstayers were deported using special Saudia Airlines planes and 2,377 using regular Saudia Airlines planes," stated Syarif.
The Consulate General in Jeddah will continue to cooperate with the Government of Saudi Arabia to assist and facilitate the Indonesian overstayer deportation process that is done by using special or regular airplanes.
Besides, the Consulate General in Jeddah also continues to facilitate the independent repatriation process for Indonesians who had come to Saudi Arabia using umra / hajj visas. Until now, there were approximately 327 ex Umrah / Hajj overstayers who have been given exit permits to return to their homeland.
