JAKARTA - Indonesian police officers arrested two terror suspects in Makassar, South Sulawesi, and in Poso, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday, a police spokesman said here on Monday.
"The arrests were made in two cities, namely Makassar and Poso, on Saturday. The terror suspects are Fatih and Mus`ab," National Police Headquarters` Head of Public Relations Division Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar said.
Fatih was arrested in Permata Sudiang housing complex, Brinkinaya subdistrict, Makassar at 7.30 p.m while Mus`ab alias Amir alias Umar alias Madinah was nabbed in front of a refueling station (SBPU) Kayamanya, Poso City, at 6.30 p.m, he said.
"Investigators are still questioning the suspects on their alleged involvement in the bombing of the Umar bin Khata Islamic Boarding School (UBK) in Bima," Boy said.
They were also suspected to have taken part in a military drill in an area around Mount Biru Tamanjeka, Poso, in April 2012. They were in Group 2 together with Santoso, who is now wanted by the police, he said.
On May 22, the anti terror squad nabbed two terrorist suspects in two different locations namely in Tanjung Priok area (North Jakarta) and Tangerang (Banten).
"The two suspects namely Sigit and Rohadi have been on our search list for their alleged involvement in planning a bomb attack in front of Myanmar`s Embassy in Jakarta awhile ago," Boy said.
Boy explained police had found materials to make bomb inside Rohadi`s home in Tangerang. "There are one kilogram of fertilizer, sulfur, cable, steel pipes with diameter of 1.5 inch and black powder," he said.
Police said later that Sigit and Rohadi were new comers. "They are new comers. They learned terrorism from cyber network by themselves," Boy Rafli Amar said. He said the two were connected with the two suspected terrorists caught in Bendungan Hilir, Jakarta, early in May.
"They are colleagues of the two suspects caught in Benhil (Bendungan Hilir) namely Sefa Riano and Ovi," he said. The group, Boy said, is believed to be members of a cell suspected to explode self-made bombs at the Myanmarese embassy based on religious solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims suffering violence in Myanmar.
He said the Sigit group is also a new cell because it has not developed ties with the existing groups. "It has no ties with Abo Roban or Iman Santoso cells. It is self-reliant," he said. Sigit was caught after disembarking from a boat at Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta. Following Sigit`s questioning Rohadi was later seized in his home in Jalan Ir Sutami in Mauk Timur, Tangerang.
