JAKARTA - Five state-owned companies would cooperate to build a monorail in the Jakarta region to ease traffic congestion in the capital city, State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan said here on Thursday.
The consortium that will build a 52-kilometer monorail from Kuningan to Cawang and to East Bekasi would be led by PT Adhi Karya, the minister said. "This is our new concept of a monorail system that we would propose to Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo," he said at his office. He said the project would cost around Rp9 trillion.
"We would carry it out by ourselves so that it could be done fast and for easy supervision," he said. He said "Adhi Karya has dropped out from the Palmerah-Kuningan monorail project and would focus on the new Kuningan-Cawang-Bekasi and the Bekasi-Cibubur projects."
He said other state-owned companies to be involved in the new monorail projects were PT Jasa Marga Tbk., PT LEN, PT Telkom Tbk., PT INKA, and Mandiri Bank. Dahlan said if the permit could be issued this month the Kuningan-Cawang-East Bekasi monorail was expected to be operational in 2015.
Adhi Karya President Director Kiswon Dharmawan said he would start the construction soon after the permit was issued. "We hope the permit will be issued this month. The sooner will be the better," he said. He said "within one to 1.5 years it is hoped a section of the monorail track would be able to be used and within two years the whole track could be fully used."
Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo meanwhile has expressed his agreement to the new project to be carried out by the consortium of state-owned companies. "I agree with the project and am ready to help for its implementation," he said.

14.27 kilometers from Komdak to Satria Mandala? Both are roughly along the same street! So I suppose the route is a different one, because this would make no sense. Making no sense is nothing special here though.

Yeah, but it will be a loop, so there they get the amount of km's.
That blue line would be very interesting btw.

Impression of how the card will look like.
And the E-ticket system.
Unfortunately for many tourists will the system be in only 1 language, although they are doing their best to attract more tourist to their city.
