JAKARTA - Indonesia ranked 100th together with 11 other corrupt countries, according to Transparency International, a global anti-corruption watchdog, in its Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2011.
"Transparency International ranked Indonesia at 100th on its list with a score of 3.0, increasing 0.2 from its 2010 CPI score of 2.8," Attorney General Basrief Arif said in its written address read out by Roberth M Tacy, the head of the Attambua Prosecutors` Office, here on Sunday.
In his written address to the commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day, the attorney general said that the international community considered corruption as a common enemy which had affected all countries in the world.
He said that corruption had been taking place since the Roman Imperium until the superpower era now, including in Indonesia. To combat corruption, Indonesia has made an action plan as a national strategy, he said.
The national corruption eradication strategy 2010 - 2015 has the vision and mission to lay down the establishment of a corruption-free governance through a consolidated and concerted prevention and prosecution system.
The attorney general said that prosecution of corruption crimes in the last several years had increased significantly. However, he said, the eradication of corruption still could not yet be balanced with reinstatement of the state`s corrupted money.
