JAKARTA - Indonesian state-owned railroad company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has announced that the commuter trains between Jakarta and Bogor will not operate for the time being after a large landslide caused the double track to sink. Trains from Jakarta will only run until Depok train station just south of Jakarta.
"At the moment it is clear that the landslide area near Cilebut, Bogor, can not be passed because the tracks are completely destroyed. We ask passengers on these trains to find alternative ways of transport as there are no alternative trains available for the time being," said Sugeng, a spokesperson for KAI.
The landslide, that took place after heavy rain yesterday, also buried 22 houses located near the track. No casualties were reported during the landslide and no trains have been damaged as well. Nine of the trains on the route are stuck on the Bogor side of the route, so trips to Depok are less frequent as well.
"It is the first time that we have seen a landslide destroying a double electrified track like this. We have asked DAMRI (state-owned bus operator) to supply extra buses, but no guarantees are made yet." The landslide itself moved the tracks downward over ten meters.

A large landslide caused the double track Jakarta - Bogor railroad to be out of order for the time being.
