NUSA DUA, BALI - Bali police will ensure the 19th ASEAN Summit security would be in accordance with universal protocol security standards, Bali police spokesman Brig Gen I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said here on Monday.
"To ensure the security of the ASEAN Summit, we have made coordination and protocol for welcoming the heads of state or government in accordance with universal standards," Ketut said.
He said that some some strict protocols are under the coordination of Presidential Security Guards because some of the heads of state should be welcomed with the universal protocol security standards.
"Therefore as host we have informed security personnel and tribal communities to ensure security at certain locations," he said. Ketut explained that in Nusa Dua where the ASEAN Summit will take place, all visitors are recommended to wear identity cards.
Ahead of the 19th ASEAN Summit, the Sixth East Asian Summit, and related meetings being held in Nusa Dua from November 14 to 19, 2011, security has been tightened.
Ketut said the joint TNI (Indonesian National Defense Forces) and National Police personnel intensified security measures in the locations prepared for the summits. He added that every one wishing to enter the venue must use the main gate.
Security officers check every one intending to go inside the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). Journalists going to the media center have also to go through a metal detector.
Around 15,000 police and military officers, and a number of police sniper dogs have been deployed particularly in the locations surrounding the summit`s venues, namely the BNDCC and the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), both in Nusa Dua.
