JAKARTA - The Population and Family Planning Agency BKKBN has released the results of a large survey held in several locations in the country. Statistics show that 51 percent of the teenagers in Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) has sex before marriage. The survey gave similar results in other areas of the country as well.
In Surabaya the percentage is 54, Bandung 47 and Medan 52. On top of this, the survey found that 37 percent of high school girls in Yogyakarta gets pregnant before their marriage. According to a spokesperson of the agency, Sugiri Syarif, a total of 2.4 million abortions is performed in the country illegally - abortion is illegal in Indonesia.
According to Syarif, the solution is in informing the teenagers at several points to prevent them from having premarital sex. Syarif however did not elaborate about the possible causes of this issue, seen as a large problem. Indonesia generally is a relatively conservative country in sexual education, but the younger generation seems to leap forward, using modern media as internet and mobile phones.

Are Indonesians and Malays considered to have higher sex drive in South-east Asia? Just curious because I've heard a few remark about high drive they have. I don't mean this as insult or praise but am inviting reader comment. Best regards.

Wonder if they have a higher sex drift or that it has more to do with materialism........for example buying the latest model mobile phone.
