JAKARTA - At least 18 people were killed and seven injured in a rain-triggered landslide triggered in an eastern Indonesian province, officials said Sunday. The landslide took place on Buru island in Maluku province.
"The landslide was triggered by heavy rains in the area and most likely because of deforestation," said Priyadi Kardono, the head of the national coordination agency. "We have a team en route to the location to provide assistance to the rescuers there."
