SURAKARTA - The police in Surabaya has raided a house of which the owner though it would be a good idea to make some real Indonesian products by himself. Unfortunately he choose to process alcoholic drinks in his own house, which is not allowed unless you have a permit for it. But it didn't end there, so the police did not raid the house for nothing.
The house along Jalan Kawi in Surabaya was raided by 50 policemen. When they entered the house they found jerrycans with mixed alcohol, so-called oplosan. This is alcohol that is used to consume which has been mixed with industrial grade alcohol to gain a larger quantity of alcohol, but can actually be lethal when drinking it.
The police seized the mixed alcohol, chemicals for mixing more alcohol and other equipment used to produce the mixed alcohol. The police was tipped by worried residents earlier on, but the place has been running for over a decade without anyone reporting it to the proper authorities. Maybe residents in the area regularly got their 'drink on the house' to keep them quiet.
