JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 on the Richter Scale has shaken parts of eastern Indonesia a while ago. The earthquake in the southern Molucca region had place at 17:57 local time and was located under the sea-floor at a depth of some 67 kilometer and an epicenter of 152 kilometers southwest of the island of Tual. There were no immediate reports of injury or damage.
A later US Geological Survey report registered the quake, in the Banda Sea, at a magnitude of 6.0. Indonesian authorities said there was no tsunami warning. This reasonably strong earthquake comes exactly five years after the 2004 Asian Tsunami which hit large parts of Asian coastal areas, killing over 200,000 people in a matter of hours by a series of tsunami's.
