JAKARTA - The administration of Jakarta is upbeat over it's target earn some 1.6 trillion Rupiah (115 million euro) from tourism alone this year. A number of regions, including Surabaya, have organized a Jakarta Tourism Expo 2009 this year.
"The target is higher than that of last year which was 1.5 trillion Rupiah,"said Arief Budhiman, the head of the Department of Tourism and Culture in the capital city. Until June, the city earned some 800 billion Rupiah, but events like the Jakarta Food Festival should cause a boost in income for the city. "In order to achieve our target, we actively conducted road-shows in a number of big cities in the country and overseas," he said.
