LABUHAN BATU - Eighteen civil servants (PNS, pegawai negeri sipil) of the Labuhan Batu district in North Sumatra have been fired after it was found out that they manipulated their data to become civil servants in the first place. After the regional council received information about what the 18 had done, a meeting was convened as soon as possible.
During the meeting it soon became clear that although the people were sacked immediately, they would not be punished in any other way for their actions. The group of 18 could become civil servants because they all received a recommendation, allowing them to pass the entire selection procedure with ease. Those fired can never become a civil servant again and will have to pay back salaries over the time they were civil servant.
