JAKARTA - The minister for Culture and Tourism, Jero Wacik, has planned to cut short the processing time of visa on arrival services at airports and seaports in Indonesia within the first 100 days in office. He said the accelerating the service would certainly improve the image of Indonesia as a tourist destination which would lead to more foreigners visiting Indonesia.
"The new service should not waste time or cause long queues. We have to make it simple," said Wacik after he was inaugurated as minister of Culture and Tourism for the second time. He said he would work together with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to improve services offered to incoming visitors at the moment.
He also made a promise to advertise Indonesia as a tourist destination on foreign TV channels. He was also to increase the number of officials responsible for promoting the many cultural destinations in Indonesia in other countries. The focus for promoting tourism would be on 12 countries; Australia, China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the UK.
