JAKARTA - An Indonesia maid working in Malaysia has been tortured and abused by her two bosses. She was chained, regularly beaten with an iron stick and forced to sleep at the toilet. She was eventually rescued by the Malaysian police from the house where she worked in Taman Sentosa, Kelang, Selangor on Tuesday afternoon.
When the police entered the house, Mantik Hani (36) was found chained by the hands and feet. She had several injuries as well, as was reported in Malaysian media. A lawyer told the press that a he received a telephone call informing him about the torture on the maid which was then locked into the toilet.
"When we arrived at the location, the woman who made the telephone call did not dare to enter the house because there was a male person waiting in front of the gate of the house. At that moment the police in Sentosa was called to make a report," said Gerald, the lawyer, in the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah hospital where the maid was brought after she was freed.
Directly after Gerald made the report, five police officers rushed to the house and eventually found the maid in unconscious condition in the toilet. The female boss has been arrested already and the police is confident that the male partner will be brought in soon as well. The woman was interrogated and brought to the court to get a permit to hold her in custody.
