Women start polygamy movement JAKARTA - After over 300 people became member of the movement in several countries, the polygamy-movement from Malaysia has now spread it's wings over Indonesia as well. Earlier this week, a meeting was held in Bandung which was the start of the movement in Indonesia. There were some 150 people from various parts in Indonesia present.

The founder of the polygamy-movement, Chodijah binti Am, was present to lead the meeting. The leader of the Global Ikhwan Poligami Malaysia told here that Indonesia now officially had a polygamy-movement as well. Before she organized the opening even tin Bandung, she traveled through several parts of Indonesia to tell people about her idea.

The meeting was held in the five-star Grand Aquila Bandung. Women from various parts of Indonesia were present; Tasikmalaya, Garut, Jakarta and Papua. Besides the meeting, a theme was discussed as well. 'Polygamy as medication for the love from Allah'. Polygamy is allowed in Indonesia, but only after permission from a judge and the earlier wife or wifes have to agree with it as well.

This article is very unclear. Does it mean that women are supporting the usual view of polygamy where a man has a number of wives, or are they espousing the reverse - a woman can have a number of husbands. I think if polygamy is allowed it should be a fair playing field. Reminds me of a warung in Yogya where the woman who ran it had two husbands for many years. What an amazing woman sticking it to the patriarchal society!

Obviously these women favour the second: a woman can have a number of husbands. Females realise what a burden this means so only 150 of them where there; this is only one of every milion Indonesian women.
