JAKARTA - A moderately strong earthquake struck Southeast Sulawesi early on Friyday morning local time. According to the U.S. Geological Survey the quake had a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter Scale, but the Indonesian BMKG reported it as a 5.8 magnitude earthquake.
The quake struck at 02:33 local time (GMT+8) at a distance of some 88 kilometers Northeast of the town of Kendari. The depth of the earthquake was just ten kilometers but because the earthquake was not powerful enough there was no danger of a tsunami.
