LIPPO CIKARANG - It has been quiet a while that I flew with Wings Air. This company is a 100% daughter of Lion Air, but that does not mean that they offer the same services. Services may be similar, it is mainly the planes belonging to Wings Air that are the problem, while those planes are quite important in the industry.
When you buy a ticket with Lion Air, make sure that you are not put on a Wings Air flight instead, because that often means you will fly with a virtual plane-wreck with an age of over 25 years with various little problems. Maintenance on planes in Indonesia might have improved in recent years, but that does not meant that those decades of bad maintenance have been overcome at all.
It has been over a year that I flew with Wings Air, several years earlier the slogan of the company was still 'Fly is cheap', and this was even printed on the bodies of the planes, in letters over a meter heigh. "Fly is cheap", but if you want to have more than one fly, it will be more expensive though. The one that 'invented' that slogan is not worth his salary at all. After years the slogan has been changed to 'Flying is cheap', but soon became outdated because of the well-known fuel surcharges.
Last week I missed my return trip because business with the Indonesian imigrasi took longer than expected - stupid, in several years of Indonesia I should have calculated on such a delay. I bought a new ticket at the airport as soon as I was finished. The first counter was Lion Air. Not Wings Air. I asked the price for a single trip to Jakarta. 460.000 Rupiah inclusive of all fees. The second question was if the flight was Lion Air or Wings air. Lion Air it was so I took the ticket and just over an hour later I was seated in a fairly new Boeing belonging to Lion Air.
The website of Wings Air can not be reached for some time now. The website of Lion Air was renewed completely earlier this year, but the old one has been put back since that at least worked like it might be expected from a website. They have a long way to go, and it is to be hoped that they can go all the way before one of those flying wreckages belonging to Wings Air ends up in a residential area. Or in the sea of course.

Fly is cheap! ... eeh ... Flying is cheap!
