Protest against non-Islamic leader of DPRD TANGERANG - In a new show of pure discrimination dozens of supporters of several Islamic movements protested against the installation of a non-Islamic leader of the regional government, the DPRD, in the regency of Tangerang. The demonstrators wanted to force their way into the building of the regional government but failed.

The dozens of demonstrators said that the installation of a non-Islamic leader of the DPRD is against the motto of the province. They don't seem to understand that the province of Tangerang has a mixed population that is not 100% Islamic for sure and that the DPRD should represent the entire population, not just one religion.

Such a flare of pure discrimination against the non-Islamic population is nothing new in Indonesia, but that they are so publicly displayed can be seen as shocking at least. This kind of actions also violates a number of laws concerning equality and freedom of religion in this country as stipulated in the Constitution. A small group of Muslems just want to wipe their ass with the Constitution as it seems.

Not only in Tangerang but also in Bekasi. Yesterday in Bekasi I got the news that the christian community in a certain area of Bekasi had to pay 500 million rupiah to get a license to build a new church just because some hardliners were against the building of a church in their neighbourhood. By law the majority of a neighbourhood has to agree with the building of a place of worship.
But - as always - money is more important than Allah and so the hardliners could be paid of with a few hundred million rupiahs. Probably that´s the way they get their money!
