LIPPO CIKARANG - It is a nice and clear Monday morning with some slight cloud cover along the skies. Nothing special to be seen from the window on the first floor. However, there is something strange actually. In the first place it looks just like a cloud hovering above the earths surface at low altitude, but it originates from a vertical column. Smoke. And where there is smoke, there is fire indeed.
Something was burning. It was a factory in Cileungsi, Bogor regency, at some 23 kilometers in bird's eye view according to Google Earth. The fire has been razing for hours, because the smoke forms a long feather towards the north of the fire. I can't see exactly in which direction the wind is blowing, but not directly to me, otherwise I would not see this line of smoke hanging in the sky.
No word about poisonous substances in the air in the news report. Not important here as it seems. Thick column of black smoke attract attention here as well, especially on the second day of Idul Fitri, since most people are still enjoying their rare days off and yesterday's food.
