MUNTILAN - An armored money transport has been the target of a failed robbery last night. The transport was moving money from a branch of Bank Danamon in Muntilan in the regency of Magelang. The three people inside the money transport were cold-bloodedly killed by the robbers, who did not even attempt to steal the money.
Agus Sutrimo, the driver of the car, an employee of security firm PT. Kelola Jasa, Arif Wirahadi and Murdiyanto, a member of the Yogyakarta police were killed by bullets through their heads. The vehicle they were in was heading for the city of Yogyakarta when a group of six people approached the vehicle and opened fire.
The money transport skidded and crashed into an electricity pole after a tire blew. The suspected robbers did not even attempt to steal the money and ran off in the direction of the city of Yogyakarta. The police chief of Central Java province, Alex Bambang Riatmodjo, said that robbery was almost certainly the motive behind the attack. "We are still investigating the possible involvement of police officers in the attempted robbery case," Alex said.
