LIPPO CIKARANG - Most likely the clerk was slightly confuse because he was fasting that he somewhat stressed when he saw my pork. It was around five in the afternoon when I strolled through the Hypermart supermarket, searching for a small gas stove which can be put on a table during the meal. Still sold out, so I went shopping for some food. The freezer full of daging babi. White text on a red background may look like big danger, but it is merely dead, packed and frozen pork.
That pork is not halal is nothing new, but that my piece of non-halal meat is used for halal purposes is something new for me. It doesn't matter too much where my money goes, as long as I have paid for the products I am expected to pay for without any misunderstandings when people want to put their hands in between these two icecold blocks of meat and a wholemeal bread just to check my shopping. I now just wonder whether it is a mistake of the clerk or the computer system of the supermarket. Or maybe during this month, al turnover on pork is automatically donated to the zakat wallet?
In this way, I also do my duty as an orang Kristen since the Bible says that I also have to pay my perpuluhan, which is in fact the same as the Islamic zakat. That my perpuluhan suddenly becomes zakat hopefully doesn't create problems, however I don't want to ask Bashir about his opinion.
