JAKARTA - Just a few days after it all started, it became very clear where it went wrong with the "Enigmatic Malaysia" tourism campaign. It was not Malaysia that put in the traditional Tari Pendet dance from Bali, but it was Discovery Channel that made the mistake when creating a trailer video for their tv-series about Malaysia, which are broadcasted around the Independence Day of that country.
The smouldering antagonism between the two countries had already flared up once again, before it was discovered who made the mistake. The government of Indonesia had already sent a letter to Malaysian authorities to get clarification before it became clear that they were not to blame in this case. Discovery Channel has already made an apology and has removed the Tari Pendet part from all trailers.
